What better place to write than in the heart of Paris, the city that’s long attracted writers from around the world? Victor Hugo, Simone de Beauvoir, James Baldwin, Martha Gellhorn, James Joyce, and now… you?
Join an award-winning author and a literary agent in a stunning private residence – draft that novel, sketch out a short story or two or polish that memoir.
The retreat is hosted by Véranda Association Culturelle, in a house that was a winner at the 2019 International Design and Architecture Awards; its enviable staircase bookshelves recently featured in top interiors magazine House & Garden. Situated in the charming 15th arrondissement, you’ll discover the bistros, bars and patisseries only the locals know – but you’ll still be just minutes away from the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and the Champs-Elysées.
Run by author and university lecturer Dr Emma Claire Sweeney and former literary agent Jonathan Ruppin, this five-day writing retreat features one-to-one mentoring sessions, work in small groups and time to write independently (with no more than 11 particpants in total). You’ll even get individual sessions before and after on Zoom.
There’ll be plenty of food and drink to fuel your inspiration, along with cocktails to welcome you and dinner to bid you farewell. There’s an optional afternoon walking tour of Paris and, with your evenings free, you’ll be offered insider tips on exploring all the wonders that make Paris a city of stories.
